Snowboard boots are more consistent than ski boots: every major brand's chart puts a US men's 10 at Mondopoint 28 (a 28 cm foot), with women's sizes one number higher for the same foot. The brands differ mainly in their EU conversions, which is why the EU column shows the most common figures and Burton's separately.

Kids' snowboard boot size chart
Kids' sizes run from toddler 7C up to 13C, then youth 1 to 7. A youth 7 is the same boot as a men's 7 or women's 8. Burton and evo agree on the Mondopoint values below; K2 prints its kids' Mondopoints in decimals (youth 1 = 19.7, youth 4 = 22.2) and ThirtyTwo runs half a size shorter at youth 2, 3 and 7.

How to check the fit
- Toes. Standing straight, your toes should lightly brush the front of the liner. When you bend your knees into a riding stance they should pull back a little (K2, Ride, REI). If you can curl or wiggle them freely, the boot is too big.
- Heel. Flex forward and your heel should stay down with minimal lift, under about 1 cm. Heel lift means a boot that is too big or too wide, not too stiff.
- Snug on day one. Liners pack out and get roomier over a season, and heat-moulded liners pack out faster. If you are between sizes, K2, Ride and REI say size down. ThirtyTwo is the one brand that says size up.
- Measure your foot. Stand on paper with your heel against a wall in your riding socks, mark your longest toe and measure in centimetres. That number is your Mondopoint; compare it with the chart rather than trusting your sneaker size.
- Width. If your foot is wide, buy a wide model or a wider-fitting brand rather than sizing up. Burton, ThirtyTwo and Salomon make wide versions; DC and Salomon run narrower.
Questions
Do snowboard boots fit the same as shoes?
Mostly. Burton, Salomon, Vans, ThirtyTwo and Nitro say their boots fit true to street shoe size. K2 and Ride say true to size or a half size down, and to size down if you are between sizes. Your toes should lightly brush the front of the liner when you stand up straight.
What Mondopoint is a US men's 10 snowboard boot?
28.0. Every major brand's chart (Burton, Salomon, K2, ThirtyTwo, Vans, DC, Ride, Nitro) puts a US men's 10 at Mondopoint 28, EU 43, UK 9. Adidas is the exception at 27.1.
Are women's snowboard boots sized differently?
A women's size is one number higher than the men's size for the same foot at most brands, so a women's 9 is a men's 8 and Mondopoint 26. Vans women's sizes run 1.5 higher than men's and Nitro's run 0.5 higher.
Does my boot size change which snowboard I need?
Yes. Boot size sets the waist width you need: men's 10 to 11.5 usually needs a mid-wide board and 12 and up a wide board. Use the snowboard size calculator once you know your boot size.
